CNS: George R. and Helen Klein Memorial Scholarship

Description
Barry Kline, a 1968 graduated of Oakland University, established the George R. and Helen Klein Memorial Scholarship in 1997 to honor his parents. Klein credits OU for teaching him to think critically and question why things are the way they are. He has authored the book Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll; the royalties from the book are used to fund this scholarship in support of students with an interest in substance-abuse counseling.

Since his graduation, Klein has continued his involvement with Oakland University by co-chairing the alumni component of the University’s Enduring Legacy Capstone Campaign, serving as the president of the Oakland University Alumni Association, and serving on the Board of Directors of the Oakland University Foundation; Klein has been the recipient of both the Distinguished Alumni Service Award and the OU Alumni Spirit Award.
