|Flexible Spending Account Reminder
Claims for 2013 expenses for Dependent Day Care must be filed with Meritain no later than January 31, 2014. Claims for the Health Care Account must be filed with Meritain no later than March 31, 2014. Claims forms are available on the UHR website
. Be sure to keep a copy of all claims sent to Meritain for processing. Remember, money that is not used by the end of the year will be forfeited.
Retirement Plan Limits Unchanged for 2014
The IRS has announced that limits for the amount of money you can set aside for retirement in our 403(b) and 457(b) plans in 2014 will not change. The annual maximum that you can contribute to your 403(b) or 457(b) plan remains at $17,500 for each plan. If you are age 50 or older, you can contribute an additional $5,500. If you wish to make a change to your retirement contributions, complete the Retirement Salary Reduction Agreement
found on the UHR website. The completed form should be turned in to UHR in room 401 Wilson Hall. If you have any questions, please stop by to see us or give us a call at extension 4207.

|COMING SOON! PeopleAdmin (TEAMS) system upgrade
The University Human Resources team is excited to announce a completely new TEAMS - Total Employee And Management Source. The upgrade of TEAMS will provide many advantages to both internal users as well as external applicants. See just a few of the advantages below: Advantages:
- Enhanced functionality to source candidates and screen out applicants.
- More efficient and effective recruiting process.
- A "Save" feature for every page, as you move from page to page.
- A "spell check" option.
With the transition comes change. Those of you who currently use the faculty hiring system may find the new TEAMS system to look very familiar to you, as we are merging with the faculty system. Things to keep in mind:
- Job posting information and applications in the current system will not transfer to the new system. If you are in the process of filling a vacant position, we recommend you complete the hiring process as soon as possible.
- If you have an application on file in the current system, please retain a copy for your reference while creating a new application in the new system.
- Pending position descriptions will need to be finalized and approved as any pending actions will not transfer to the new system. If they are not approved, supervisors will have to re-enter the information in the new system.
- Performance evaluations that have been completed will be transferred by PeopleAdmin as PDF's. All 2013-2014 evaluations will need to be completed in the old system by late spring. Any incomplete evaluations will not be transferred as PDF's and will not be accessible to complete when the change is made.
- Evaluations will look different and be processed differently. Goals for the 2014-2015 should not be created in the old system. While we anticipate announcing a live site in time for setting the 2014-2015 goals, if it is not available, create and save the goals in a Word document to be entered later into the new TEAMS site.

Oakland University Announces Electronic Form W-2
Do your part and save a tree; it's as easy as 1 – 2 – 3! Each year, Oakland University provides each employee with a paper copy of Form W-2 on or before January 31st. We are going electronic this year and giving you the option to receive your W-2 earlier, as well as helping OU go green!
The benefits of receiving your electronic W-2 are:
In order for you to receive your 2013 W-2 electronically, we will need your consent by following these three easy steps:
- Earlier availability
- Less possibility the W-2 may be lost or stolen
- Access it from anywhere
Please Note: Once you give consent, you will not receive a paper Form W-2, unless you revoke your consent. If you would like to view your 2012 W-2 by accessing W-2 Year End Earnings Statement in SAIL, you will be prompted to give consent to receive it electronically. This will automatically enroll you to receive your 2013 W-2 electronically as well.
- Log in to your SAIL account
- Click Employee, Choose Tax Forms
- Choose Electronic W-2 Consent, Check the Consent Box, Submit

All Employees Should Verify Social Security Number on W-2 Form
The Oakland University Payroll Office is requesting all employees verify their Social Security Number on the W-2 Form when they receive it at the end of January, 2014. Please make sure the Social Security Number on the form matches the number on your Social Security Card. If you discover an error, contact the Payroll Office immediately at x3034 or firstname.lastname@example.org
2014 W-4 Form – Federal Withholding Allowances
Employees should review their Federal Withholding Allowances to determine if they may need to make changes for 2014. If filing status (married or single), exempt status, or exemption allowance qualifications have changed at some point during the past calendar year, a new Form W-4 may need to be submitted to Payroll. The new 2014 W -4 Form will be accessible on the Payroll Website and the IRS Website as soon as it becomes available.
NOTE: Any employee claiming "EXEMPT" in 2013 must submit a 2014 W-4 Form by February 15, 2014, in order for the exempt status to remain active.
The Payroll Office continuously audits all Federal and State W – 4 Forms. You may be requested to supply updated forms. If you receive this request, please provide updated forms as soon as possible. If the Payroll Office does not have a W-4 Form on file that matches what is currently in the payroll system, then your withholdings will be changed to a filing status of Single, with Zero allowances. This is the default entry required by IRS for non W-4 Form compliance.Please contact the Payroll Office at 248-370-3472 or email@example.com if you have any questions.

|New Years Resolution Idea: Self-organization and Overcoming Procrastination|
How is organization related to procrastination? In fact, the two often go hand in hand. A lack of organization, coupled with a tendency to procrastinate, can be a vicious cycle. Becoming disciplined, setting priorities, and eradicating time-wasting activities can reduce the desire to put things off. The key to becoming your most productive self is to embrace organization and to overcome procrastination.
This course introduces you to ways of becoming organized to help you accomplish more with the hours you have. It examines the common reasons for procrastination and ways you can overcome them in the workplace. Overcoming the desire to procrastinate can be aided by implementing a strong system of organization. The course presents ways to develop the discipline required to get things done, guidance on setting priorities, as well as approaches to overcommitment.

STAFF WALKING CLUB!
Every Wednesday starting at 12:15 p.m. a group of OU Faculty/Staff are meeting at Rec Center's track to fit in some exercise. Bring your tennis shoes and OU I.D./Rec Pass. The group will choose to walk on the track or walk outside depending on weather. For more information contact Emily Delano. You receive 5 Be Well points every time you walk!
