We are putting the final touches on the training for the Performance Management Process for Non-Bargained Employees. We are looking forward to presenting this new tool to you. The requirements will remain the same. The evaluation will still be based on Accomplishments on Job Duties and Goals. There are several positive changes to the system such as:
  • Each step you will be prompted to save
  • You will have a personal notes section accessible only for you
  • Process is task-based; not workflow

New Time and Attendance System Coming Soon for Hourly Employees
The University is implementing a new Time and Attendance system called UltraTime Enterprise to record payroll hours for the following employees:
  • Custodial
  • Grounds Maintenance
  • Skilled Trades
  • Casual and Temporary
  • Students working at the Campus Recreation, Golf Course, Oakland Center, and University Housing
The UltraTime system was chosen because its innovative design and automation will help streamline our hourly time and attendance procedure. New time clocks will be installed soon and several will replace current time clocks. Some casual and temporary hourly employees using the new system will record hours worked by logging into a computer kiosk.

For additional information, please contact Tina Tyrer, Payroll Manager, at 248-370-3034 or tyrer@oakland.edu.

Working with Difficult People: Identifying Difficult People
Inevitably, we all encounter difficult people in the workplace. Dealing with difficult people can lead to feelings of frustration or even intimidation. If you know the right techniques, though, dealing with even the most difficult person is possible. In order to deal with difficult people, first you need to know what kind of difficult person you're dealing with so you can use the right technique for the right 'difficult' type.

This course will provide you with methods to help you recognize the characteristics of some of the most common types of difficult people, better understand their motivations, and begin to deal with them more effectively.

Mobile Device Security – Simplified Guide
Mobile devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets, laptop PCs, etc.) are convenient, but also easily lost or stolen. Policy 860 - Information Security tells us not to store secure data on these devices, except in special circumstances. If you store sensitive information on mobile devices, the information on the device should be encrypted. Fortunately, encrypting devices is becoming easier as vendors increasingly provide more security options within the devices. This guide provides simple instructions for enabling basic encryption on several popular devices.

Macy is so energetic, happy and spoiled by her mama, Renee Dembeck from the President's Office, that you wouldn't be able to tell that two years ago she was a scared and skinny puppy mill rescue.  This four year old cock-a-poo will be the first to tell you that love heals all!
