|Important! Check your 2015 Benefit Statement Now
Please confirm your 2015 benefits by reviewing your Benefit Statement that will show you the 2015 enrollment information. Follow these steps:
- Log in to Sail
- Click on Employee
- Select Benefits and Deductions
- Select Benefit Statement
- For the "As of date" choose Jan 1, 2015 and click Select
Sail will then display your 2015 Benefit Statement showing your benefits for next year. If anything is missing, incorrect, or confusing, please contact the Benefits office at x4207 as soon as possible.
Flexible Spending Account Reminders
|Last Day for 2015 Plan Year Claims Submission |
You have until January 31, 2015 to submit dependent care reimbursement claims incurred in 2014. You have until March 31, 2015 to submit health care reimbursement claims incurred in 2014. If you leave the University before the end of the year, you have a run-out period in which to submit claims incurred prior to your termination date. For Dependent Care Reimbursements, you must submit your claims within 30 days following your termination date. For Healthcare Reimbursements you must submit your claim within 3 months following your termination date.
|$500 Rollover into 2015|
You will be allowed to rollover up to $500 of any unused 2014 Health Care Reimbursement Account dollars.
- The unused money will automatically rollover into your 2015 account and does not count towards your 2015 contribution ($2,550 maximum).
- The 2014 rollover funds will be available to you whether you enrolled in the Health Care Reimbursement Account in 2015 or not - however you must be an active OU employee in order to receive the rollover funds.
- Any 2014 leftover funds exceeding $500 will be forfeited.
- The rollover only applies to the Health Care Reimbursement Account - it does not apply to the Dependent Care Reimbursement Account.
Limit Increases for Retirement Accounts
The IRS announced cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) affecting the dollar limits for pension plans and other retirement-related items for the 2015 tax year. Most annual limits are going to increase in 2015 – including a rise from $17,500 to $18,000 for 403(b) and 401(k) elective deferrals and from $5,500 to $6,000 for the age-50 catch-up contributions. And the limit on contributions to defined contribution plans under 415(c) has increased from $52,000 to $53,000.
New InfoArmor Subscribers: What to Expect
Employees that elected coverage in the new InfoArmor benefit should expect an email in the first week of January. The welcome email and letter provide instruction on how to login to the employee's account. Once logged in the employee can navigate through the features, activate CreditArmor, opt out of solicitations, indicate the communication preferences, and upload any additional information into our WalletArmor feature. The employee can also print a Digital Identity Report a free credit report, and read tips on how to protect his or her identity.

PERFORMANCE REVIEW PROCESS
ATTENTION: Oakland University Professional Support Association (OUPSA) Oakland University Campus Maintenance & Trades (OUCMT) Employees and Supervisors of OUPSA and OUCMT Employees:
Implementation of the new TEAMS system (Total Employee And Management Source) has changed the annual review process. Training for both employees and supervisors is recommended.
Supervisors will begin the process by entering ratings and comments in the TEAMS system. Then schedule a meeting with the employees to discuss performance from the 2014 calendar year. The reviews should be completed between now and February 13, 2015.
If there was a position or supervisor change within 90 days of the end of the 2014 year, the performance review for January 2015 will be optional.
The purpose of the performance review is to encourage dialogue between employees and supervisors which serves as a tool for job effectiveness, progress and growth. In addition, the review process fosters mutual understanding of job requirements and employee contributions, lends insight into what motivates optimal performance, and provides an opportunity for feedback regarding development and other career interests.

Oakland University encourages receiving an Electronic Form W-2
Do your part and save a tree; it's as easy as 1 – 2 – 3! Each year, Oakland University provides each employee with a paper copy of Form W-2 on or before January 31st. An electronic alternative is available this year giving you the option to receive your W-2 earlier, as well as helping OU go green!
The benefits of receiving your electronic W-2 are:
* Earlier availability
* Less possibility the W-2 may be lost or stolen
* Access it from anywhere
In order for you to receive your 2014 W-2 electronically, we will need your consent by following these three easy steps:
1. Log in to your SAIL account
2. Click Employee, Choose Tax Forms
3. Choose Electronic W-2 Consent, Check the Consent Box, Submit Please Note:
Once you give consent, you will not receive a paper Form W-2, unless you revoke your consent. If you would like to view your 2013 W-2 by accessing W-2 Year End Earnings Statement in SAIL, you will be prompted to give consent to receive it electronically. This will automatically enroll you to receive your 2014 W-2 electronically as well.

. All Employees Should Verify Social Security Number on W-2 Form
The Oakland University Payroll Office is requesting all employees verify their Social Security Number on the W-2 Form when they receive it at the end of January, 2015. Please make sure the Social Security Number on the form matches the number on your Social Security Card. If you discover an error, contact the Payroll Office immediately at firstname.lastname@example.org
. 2015 W-4 Form – Federal Withholding Allowances Employees should review their Federal Withholding
Allowances to determine if they may need to make changes for 2015. If filing status (married or single), exempt status, or exemption allowance qualifications have changed at some point during the past calendar year, a new Form W-4 may need to be submitted to Payroll. The new 2015 W -4 Form will be accessible on the Payroll Website and the IRS Website as soon as it becomes available. NOTE:
Any employee claiming "EXEMPT" in 2014 must submit a 2015 W-4 Form by February 15, 2015 in order for the exempt status to remain active.

Employee Friendly FIT Pass Information
Are you an OU Employee interested in taking Group Exercise classes at the Rec Center? There is now a pass designed especially for employees to purchase that allows you to participate in certain Group Exercise classes at a lower out of pocket cost! The Employee Friendly Pass can be purchased at any time (online or at the Rec Center), starting Tuesday, January 6th for $18. This pass is good for any classes marked with an "EF" on the schedule, unlimited, for the Winter 2015 semester.

The 35 Group Exercise Challenge is back, are you going to take the challenge this semester? We are challenging all OU Faculty, Staff, and Students to take 35 Group Exercise classes in the Winter 2015 semester! Your wedding anniversary
Anything you talk about often on social media
Also, don't repeat passwords. If one site gets hacked, any other information protected with that same password is also at risk.

Meet Bailey the Escape Artist! Bailey is a two year old beagle rescue, who even as a puppy liked to show off her Houdini-like skills. She has escaped seven times, and has even jumped off a one-story roof, and has never been hurt. Her mom, Andrea Lewis from Professional Development and Education Outreach, is grateful for her safe return, and Bailey makes up for it with all of the love she gives to Andrea's six-month old son, Callan.
