Are You Enrolled in an HMO for 2015?
Are you enrolled in one of the following HMOs for 2015?
  • HAP Health Engagement (Non-faculty)
  • Blue Care Network Healthy Blue Living
  • Priority Health HealthbyChoice Incentives
If you and your spouse are enrolled in one of the HMOs listed above, remember that you must both complete the on-line health risk appraisal and visit your primary care physician to complete the Qualification Form before the end of March 2015 to qualify for the higher level of benefits. This is true even if you were in the same plan in 2014. If you are in the Enhanced level of benefits, you must complete the above process to remain in the Enhanced level for the remainder of 2015. If you are currently in the Standard level of benefits, this is your chance to move to the Enhanced level by completing the required steps identified above.

Health Care Flexible Spending Account Reminder
If you are enrolled in the 2014 Health Care Flexible Spending Accounts, you had until December 2014 to use your funds. Claims for the Health Care Account must be filed with Meritain no later than March 31, 2015. Claims forms are available on the UHR website. Be sure to keep a copy of all claims sent to Meritain for processing.

Any unused HCRA funds (up to $500) will automatically roll-over in to the next year's HCRA. For example, if you do not use all your 2014 HCRA funds, up to $500 of your unused funds will automatically rollover into your 2015 account. Any amount over $500 will be forfeited. The rollover amount will be in addition to the annual contribution maximum. Please note the rollover does not apply to the Dependent Care Account.

In recognition of the many outstanding accomplishments of Oakland University's AP employees, the university is pleased to open nominations for the AP award program for calendar year 2014. The award for 2014 is $1,000.

The AP award fund, established specifically for this recognition, honors exemplary service and exceptional contributions made by individual AP employees.

Supervisors, peers or co-workers may nominate colleagues or employees may self-nominate using the AP Award Nomination Form, which is available on the University Human Resources web site.

The nomination form should state the basis for the nomination, focusing on the employee contributions above and beyond his or her job responsibilities as they relate to the AP award meritorious performance criteria.

Nominations may be forwarded to the next-level supervisor for additional comments or sent directly to the president or divisional vice president. Employees who were rated as Needs Improvement on their last performance appraisal will not be eligible to receive this award.

Join Team OU at the Let's Move Festival of Races held in downtown Mount Clemens on Saturday, April 25th. This year's races include a 1-Mile Kids Run, 1-Mile River Walk, 5k Run, Half Marathon Run/Walk, a Half Marathon Relay, and, for the first time, a Full Marathon. Grizzlies Response: Awareness & Suicide Prevention (GRASP) Programs in March
GRASP Mental Health First Aid at OU . All faculty, staff, students and community members are eligible to participate. The 8-hour MHFA training has been broken down into two 4-hour sessions from 4 pm to 8:30 pm. To receive a certificate and manual, you must attend both sessions on 3/6 AND 3/7. The certificate is valid for 3 years. There is no cost for the training. The training is limited to 30 participants. Interested individuals should RSVP to Erica Wallace at by Monday, March 2. Grizzlies Response: Awareness & Suicide Prevention (GRASP) is hosting a general training on Friday, Mar. 13, from 12 - 1:30 pm in the OC Lake Michigan Room. Feel free to bring your lunch! The training is open to all faculty, staff and students. The training will cover warning signs of mental illness and suicide; OU-specific information and resources; and skills to approach an individual in distress. New Training for Finance Users

Accounting 101 is a course that covers the fundamentals of accounting with the newcomer in mind. You will learn how to distinguish proper use of fund types; definition of account codes; completion of Interdepartmental Journal Vouchers including, expense reclassifications, P-Card reclassifications - including credits, Y079 Transfers, documenting Interdepartmental Charges, external revenue & sales tax, year-end accruals, and common mistakes. Participants will also learn how to read financial statements, including the balance sheet (FGITBSR), income statement (FGIBDST), Budget Status Report and Finance Self Service. Personal Productivity: Self-Organization and Overcoming Procrastination
How is organization related to procrastination? In fact, the two often go hand in hand. A lack of organization, coupled with a tendency to procrastinate, can be a vicious cycle. Becoming disciplined, setting priorities, and eradicating time-wasting activities can reduce the desire to put things off. The key to becoming your most productive self is to embrace organization and to overcome procrastination.
This course introduces you to ways of becoming organized to help you accomplish more with the hours you have. It examines the common reasons for procrastination and ways you can overcome them in the workplace. Overcoming the desire to procrastinate can be aided by implementing a strong system of organization. The course presents ways to develop the discipline required to get things done, guidance on setting priorities, as well as approaches to overcommitment.

Building a Better yOU
Stayin' Alive Hands-Only Heart Workshop
Thank you to all that attended our first Stayin' Alive Hands-Only Heart Workshop! Over 50 OU employees listened to our guest speaker David Charlton tell his personal story about saving a man's life in addition to learning the hands-only version of CPR. Employees were then able to practice compressions on CPR manikins and get additional information from the Rochester Hills Fire Department. Fun was had by all taking photos on our heart healthy red carpet! Thank you for attending!

Nutrition Consultations
Nutrition Consultations are still available to OU Faculty and Staff at no cost to you! Discuss with Debbie Cavendar, RD any nutritional health concerns or questions you may have and have a personal plan developed at your consultation. Faculty and Staff are eligible for one consultation per semester. Consultations take place in the Rec Center Conference Room on the following dates: March 17 and April 7. Get the guidance you need at our retirement Plans Education Websites

When was the last time you changed your NetID password? Your NetID gives access to lots of secure information, including your email, personal information stored in SAIL, and documents uploaded securely into Oakshare or Google Drive. Make sure your password is complex and secure, and that you change it on a regular basis.  To find out when you last changed your password, log into and check the bottom right hand corner.

This is Soats General Patton (Patton) a 21-year-old, 32" tall miniature horse dressed with his owner Ashley Cerku, Operations Coordinator of the OU Writing Center, as Beauty and the Beast. Along with his other friends (Cerku's 2 other minis and Quarter Horse), he likes to pull carts, compete in national competitions, and eat all of the treats in the bucket!  Here is another picture of Patton, out of costume.
